Welcome to Wells County's first and only solid waste transfer station. Tonner Transfer Station is designed to receive your trash, process it, and efficiently haul it to another location. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The transfer station is conveniently located just over 5 miles south of Bluffton, IN along State Road 1 at 3626 E 550 S Bluffton, IN 46714 and is open to the public.
This new facility has a new scale system as well as a new building, offering a better overall customer experience than a larger landfill facility.
We will accept:
Residential Trash, Construction Debris, Wood, Metal, Concrete, Brick, Stone, and Dirt.
Below is our list of our Non Acceptable Materials (Items We Won't Take):
Hazardous Materials: Batteries, Wet Paints (will take if dried), Oils, Fuels, Antifreeze, Household Hazardous Waste, Chemicals, etc.
Electronic Waste: Including but not limited to Computers, TVs, VCR/DVD Players, Cell phones ect.
Asbestos: No asbestos materials. Dumpster can be rented separately and lined appropriately.
Wells County maintains a drop-off recycling center at 702 West Wabash. It is open Tuesday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until noon. You can contact the Recycling Center at (260) 824-4828. For information on what is accepted click here.
Bluffton city residents may haul their own yard waste, branches, brush, etc. to the city's site on Indiana State Road 124 East across from Expert Transmission. The gates are open from 7:30am to 6:30pm - 7 days a week.
